Utah’s slowest road biker
Nov 24th, 2009 by Hanna
…that’s my new title since Marc and I have found a new hobby. Of course that’s my personal title and I can’t speak for Marc. To be honest, he’s in much better shape than I am even though he was just as lazy the last couple of months…but being a guy seems to help. Anyway….we have a new hobby. Thanks to Barbara, Robert’s sister from Konstanz who talked me into it. But I must confess: I really, really like it! Marc and I rented road bikes once to try it out and after my parents had left in October we went to buy some road bikes for our own. It was kind of hard…how do you settle for a specific brand (every store here sells a different brand), how can you tell that one bike is so much better than the other one just from riding it a few meters? And than there are components, the frame (alu or carbon) and after a few days all I could see was a big question mark. Anyway, we made our
decision somehow and in the end we both went for Bianchi bikes - being loyal to our Italian friends. And it was definitely the right decision…I LOVE my new bike!! And now I love to go on a ride up the canyon, 12.5 km uphill - just for fun. I really can’t believe I’m doing that. If you would have told me that a few months ago…anyway…..
So far we went up Emigration Canyon several times, the “easiest” canyon around here (7.8 miles one way, a consisten 5% grade, 1478 feet elevation gain)- to get in shape. It was nice to see how I gained strength and it became easier every time.
Unfortunately this year’s season seems to be over. It’s getting cold and it has snowed already a couple of times. But I can’t wait for it to be warmer again…City Creek is waiting for me.
Oho, unter die Rennradfahrer gegangen, habt ihr euch ja die beste Jahreszeit für ausgesucht
Ich wünsche euch mal noch viel Spaß on the Road!
